It may not feel like it, but it is finally summer in Toronto! As I’m typing this blog post, the current temperature here is approximately 20 degrees celsius. One might ask, is this actually “summer weather?”
Well, my standard for summer weather is humid at 30 degrees celsius, which we are definitely not getting right now. However it is warm enough to sit outside under the sun which is all that matters! As we all know, summer weather really means sitting on the patio under the sun with your t-shirt and putting away all the ugly puffy jackets haha.
On the topic of patios, where are your favorites in the city? Do let me know because I’m ready to explore the city and enjoy this lovely weather as much as possible.
What’s more, warm weather means festivals! Seriously, there are festivals every weekend. With a myriad of music and food festivals, there is definitely something for everyone. The most recent one I attended was Foodalicious 2018 at Downsview Park, and since I was in the area I dropped by Moxie’s Grill & Bar‘s Lemonade Pop-up Patio for much needed rest and refreshing lemonade.
This summer, Moxie’s is bringing a full patio experience to you and serving up glasses of their house-made Hard Lemonade at festivals all over the GTA. You can find them at some of these upcoming events in Toronto:
- Wine & Spirit Festival at Sugar Beach – June 22 and 23
- Canada Day at Woodbine Park – July 1
The hard-to-miss bright yellow pop-up patio was a full setup that included two bars and a live DJ. I loved how the Moxie’s pop-up offered an outdoor patio experience with shade lounge areas. This is always great when hanging out at a crowded festival in the middle of a hot summer. Plus there were also giant yellow Jenga games that were free for anyone to play with. I definitely got way too competitive during a game with strangers.
However, the best part of this patio was the lemonade, oh my god the lemonade.
You know what the key is to good lemonade? A good balance between acidity and sweetness, and Moxie’s got it just right! Each glass was made with hand squeezed lemon juice, a splash of soda water and a shot of vodka for that “adult-only” factor.
If you want to have a taste of summer with these refreshing drinks, Moxie’s Lemonade pop-up patio will be at the above festivals. I will also be partnering with Moxie’s Grill & Bar to giveaway a $150 gift card to one lucky winner, so check out my Instagram at Hangry_Foodies for the contest. Be sure to check them out and #SqueezeSummerHard.
