We all know breakfast is an essential part of a well-balanced, productive and healthy day, however not everyone have much time in the morning (aka me) to prepare a healthy breakfast for themselves or their family.
So in the next couple of days, I will be showcasing some of my quick and easy breakfast recipes using one simple ingredient that is found in every household – eggs! At the same time, I will also be suggesting which TABASCO® sauce go with which recipe as it is one of the easiest way to season your morning eggs for that extra burst of flavors! You can find more breakfast recipes on tabascosauce.ca/events or by following @tabascocanada on social media.

We all know that Los Angeles’s Eggslut is famous for their breakfast sandwiches on brioche buns. During my trip to LA, I was able to visit Eggslut and tried both their breakfast sandwich and the “slut”. I actually think their “slut” aka a soft coddled egg with potato puree is actually much better than their breakfast sandwich.
For those of you who haven’t had this dish, let me give you the run down. The “slut” is a coddled egg on top of a silky smooth potato puree in a glass jar and served with crunchy slices of baguette. Once it arrives, stir the egg and potatoes together with which creates a yolky, potato-ey mixture that is heaven-sent.

My interpretation of the recipe is slightly different from Eggslut as the mashed potato in the “slut” was super smooth and silky. Personally I like my mashed potato to be “chunkier” for an additional touch of texture. Also, the texture of the mashed potatoes won’t change at all after being poached with the egg, so no worries about the potato being overcooked or change in texture :).
